Works of Art

My most familiar work is spread out all over Spain and among those pieces, I wish to emphasize the modern art, perpetuated in my carefree and cheerful youth. One of the most honorable pieces worth mentioning is THE DREAM: a beautiful woman who stands out because of her calm gesture and the plenitude of her soul.

Another piece is entitled MATERNITY; inspired by my personal life, through the sentiments that a man, a father, experiences during the most beautiful time of his life: the moment his children are born.

The next piece was very difficult to complete because of its complexity of emotions and the ambiguity that ADAM and EVE are meant to capture. It is just one piece but depending on the angle at which you approach it, you will see ADAM on one side and EVE on the other. This symbolizes the fine line that separates men from women and that, deep down, we are really all the same.

The piece that ended this period of my life is THE SCREAM, a ground-breaking, avant-garde piece that allows the spectator to catch a glimpse of my personality, my concerns, myself. Here I capture my great affinity for horses and the desperation that we artists sometimes suffer when we feel misunderstood and, very often, completely alone. Although the reality is that artists always work from commissions, I am very pleased that during this time of my life, I was able to create artwork that made me a better artist and had an invaluable personal contribution to me.

After that, a more quiet and calm period arrived with the commission of MOSES by Michelangelo. This piece was a true pleasure to create and fulfilled a complex personal goal, since having the opportunity to make a masterpiece like this is any sculptor’s dream.

Shortly after, CROSS arrived. As its name indicates, it is a large cross measuring 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) high and is now located in Paiporta (Valencia). This piece makes me even prouder with every year that passes.

Another one of pieces is the VIRGIN; a timeless classic with an added attractiveness due to the cleanliness of its lines and serenity of its gestures. It is impossible to forget personal works, commissions for families united under a common purpose, or seeing one’s relatives in a marble or bronze sculpture and remember them forever (Gitano y Mula Albacete Burial Insurance Agent).

My last piece, which I am still working on in my studio and will soon be placed on its pedestal, is SAINT THERESA of JORNET and IBARS. It is the figure of a nun, over 2 meters (6.5 feet) in height with her arms extended. What this piece transmits, represents and signifies for me is so great that it is difficult for me to express it in a few lines, but I am going to try!

The kindness of Saint Theresa is present in this white marble sculpture; the material was chosen especially for its symbolism of purity. The dimensions and form were chosen so that the spectator could see it from far away and in hopes that it would appeal to the love and goodness within every person. It is a song of hope and an allegory of humility.

I am thankful for having had the opportunity to create such a charismatic work of art, full of emotions. The delivery of this piece will represent an unparalleled satisfaction for me.
